I plan on adding a branch off track on my subway line and will be purchasing two switches and some more Fastrack to do my new track branch off siding project. I run all conventional power and will definitely be purchasing one right hand 036 remote Fastrack switch for a location that is several feet away from my transformers and controls. The remaining left hand 036 switch would be right next to my transformer. Should I just get a manual switch for that location or get a remote version? What would you do in this case and why?

Thanks for your reply Ed. I only run one subway at a time and would probably want the switches to go in the same direction depending on which track I choose. This would be my first fastrack switch purchase as my only experience with Lionel switches were the old 022 postwar ones I had as a kid. I do have a spare CW-80 transformer which I could use to just power the switches only. Looks like both should be remotes at any rate.

Here's a diagram....

Set up the first switch as delivered, then

Connect a red wire from OUT on sw1 to OUT on sw2

Connect a green wire from THRU on sw1 to THRU on sw2

Connect a black wire from GND on sw1 to GND on sw2

When you click the remote, both switches will move at the same time.

If the Anti-derail makes one switch change position, the other switch will change too (and the light on the remote will indicate it)
