Do you have a train car that you have never run?

I have an ABBA set of Atlas Northern Pacific F3s that have never been opened.  I don't really have a good reason!  LOL  I think at the time they were a Special Run for Petersen Supply or something like that so I figured I'd better get them now,  even though I thought they'd be too big for my 8 x 12 layout.  My thinking was someday I'll be moving to a bigger space and will have the room.  Still waiting.  

I also have an Amtrak Calif. engine and Surfliner set that I've never run because the Hi-Level cars won't fit through my portals.

I have several. Can't think of them all but a couple are a Ross Switch box car, (never opened) & a 2006 MTH York Boxcar in it's original shipping carton, ( never opened), The York box car was my 1st York attended.

Yes, but the key words are, "so far". Everything will have some running time on my new expanded layout. If something doesn't see track time, unless it is a display only model, it is gone..

Have Hopper Cars that are lettered for REXALL CHEMICAL, REXENE, and later EL REXENE when they merged with El Paso Chemical. Also have AMOCO hopper and Tank cars. These cars don't match my era, but its were I worked as a Chemical Engineer and saw these on a daily basis in the field and from my office daily.

Ashamed to admit it, but much most of what I've purchased. I need to switch my time, energy and $$ resources from buying to building a permanent, functioning layout. Refocusing my priorities and vision as to what I want on a layout is in order as I've assuredly acquired more than I'll ever use with the space limitations I have.

I have a Lionel Eagle Scout Boxcar my father gave me that's my only purely for display item.  I've only had it out of the box once, just to inspect and move some packaging so it would display better in the box.

Yes, three Marx 3/16 scale cars from the Fifties with boxes.  There are also more of the same, but not quite mint, that do run frequently.

Yes.  I have at least a dozen.  I knew early on that someday I would be building a new layout so I purchased items over the years which I wanted to run when I had a larger layout.  The process of tearing down my current layout is a slow one as I'm going through years of accumulated junk stored in my basement, not all of which is mine as a few family members have stored some items in it.  Hopefully in a year or two I'll have all the items out of their boxes and running on the layout.

Yes I do, but that's only because they are junky cars without wheels that came in a box of stuff someone gave me.  But their days of being unrun by me are numbered as I've been slowly fixing them up to at least run as I have the time.  Otherwise as soon as I get something new, it goes on the track and gets run.  It may then go back in the box for later, but only after it's made a lap or a dozen first.

I do, but not intentionally.  I just never got around to putting a couple cars on my track.  It is my intention to have all my rolling stock and engines on the track. Well except for my original Lionel turbine from the 50s which I don't run anymore and sits on a shelf.  I only have one train shelf and that is it.

These are my two! They are too well detailed and are on scale wheels and have scale couplers.

I have a couple Lionel 6464-200 Pennsy boxcars that are Mint, never run.  I'll never run them.  I have several other -200s that are Exc and they are the ones that get layout time.

I have several cars, but no loco I have not run at least a bit.  

I have a construction caboose I have never run, just had on a shelf, and some tank cars.  They await repainting/bashing and may wait on the shelf for quite some time.

Absolutely.  A pair if the MTH NJT double deck passenger cars that allegedly can tolerate 042 but clip the DZ switch machines.  These will sit until the day comes when I can have a wider radius min curve.  

Like ogaugeguy, I've got more stuff that hasn't been run than has been run.  For many years, I didn't have a layout, but I was at my peak of train buying ('80's and 90's).  When I finally managed to have a short-lived layout around 2005-2006, I only ran the TMCC and DCS engines.  So, all those conventional engines (and matching rolling stock) was never run.  I have the benchwork completed for my new layout, and I've had a single loop of track operational for a few months.  But, it has been temporarily dismantled as I prepare to get the 3 mainlines and sidings configured and permanent wiring done.

I recently decided:

1. Not to upgrade the conventional engines to command

2. To focus primarily on scale (with exceptions like aquarium cars and mint cars)

3. Cut down on the number of different rail lines that I model

So, I am in the process of selling a whole bunch of stuff.  I've sold most of my first batch (here on OGR For Sale), and I'm about to list another batch.

Mine would have to be the MTH railking NS Horseshoe curve 150th Anniversary Boxcar. I bought it because I was there for the ceremony in 2004 and went to the Altoona museum in 2009, I love the look of the boxcar so much I did not even want to open it.

   I do have only one, my Billy Maz Box Car, I might some day pick up another one to put on the tracks, but this one stays wrapped in it's original plastic covering.

I have the same unopened car. It hasn't been run only because I haven't gotten around to it.

I have about 25 that are still in the boxes.  Some are new, some are new to me.  Right now I'm still working on the storage track and yard area.  Once I get it done, I'll open up the boxes and add them to the consist.

I've a similar situation. I have a few junkers I bought because the trucks and couplers still good and I had some nicer cars that needed trucks. The pretty cars have all been run now, but not the junkers. I do have one Lionel prewar observation car that I also have not run, It is mostly intact and in fair shape but has no roof. I've been waiting to find a roof and some other passenger cars to run with it. I guess I could run it as is and pretend it's a convertible?  lol

I bought several engines that I thought would be useful on the layout but they are still in their unopened shipping boxes.

I bought a beautiful set of N&W passenger cars from a forum member but they are scale sized and never made it on the layout, not yet anyway.

I purchased several Christmas boxcars that have the year each of my children were born but they have not made it out of their boxes either.

There's probably more lurking in my storage closet but I will pass the baton to someone else.  Confession is good for the soul!

I realized that I have two complete sets that have never been run. One is the LCCA Texas Special cow and calf with add-on cars.  The other is the Train of Tomorrow.  I do intend to eventually run them though.

I have a 3356 Horse Car that I have never run.  Bought used and it has been run, I'm sure.  I got the car repaired and tuned up to operate splendidly, but I've been struggling with the corral, still can't get it to behave so I haven't run the car as yet.

Yes, I have I have several sets of passenger cars that I haven't run. 

It's not a matter of won't, but can't.  I built my current layout with a O-63/O-54 double mainline so I would be tempted to buy any big steam.   Also has a S-curve as the main goes around the turntable.

Then, got into scale, sold my 15" passenger cars and purchased three sets of scale passenger cars.  None of these three sets will run on the current layout!   It's okay, as I'm currently making room in the basement for a larger layout with an O-80/O-72 double-main without an S-curve.

Unfortunately I do have some (quite a few) still in the box or shipping cartons. Not because they are sacred, but because I don't have the space to get them all out yet. The layout needs to be expanded. They will all be run eventually.

I have a lot of them.  The ones that come to mind are a number of Atlas 86 foot flat cars and also a number of Atlas articulated auto carriers.  I have a few MTH cars too that are still in their original boxes.
