Just wondering if a lot of you folks use the ARC on your layout? I have been out of the train loop for about 3 years...but I did use the ARC action recorder on my layout ...and didn't know if another company made one that was a little easier to use. I found that my TMCC diesel engines responded better than my steamers did with the ARC...Thanks

I installed it on my layout and used it a couple of times. Worked well. I seem to remember that in order to really get the full function you needed to install sensors.

I didn't have the ARC but do recall seeing videos from IC Controls (original developer) that seemed to indicate that the accuracy was greatly enhanced by adding insulated rail sections that acted as triggers for the next action in ARC program.

As John mentioned, the Legacy system has the recording function built right into the remote and it seems to work pretty well but I've only tested it with Legacy engines. The engines usually stop within a few inches of the original point.

The upcoming LCS with the track sensors and iPad interface looks to enhance it even more.

The Action Recorder Controller (ARC) is a TMCC device like and ASC or AMC that records Cab-1 commands and plays them back. You hit a key sequence to start recording and then every command you press after that is stored including the timing of it. After you end the sequence you can play it back by pressing the ACC # assigned and the AUX2 key. You can also set the recordings to loop so you can use them as I do to periodically run your accessories, i.e. if you have an MTH Gas Station you can have the car come out and then 5 minutes later go back in. In between you can have many other accessories run for a bit. You can also use it to turn all of your accessories on with a single button. The ARC can store up to 8 recordings.  What it can't do is record legacy commands.
