I've had my little Lionel Lionchief Plus 2.0 docksider apart for weeks. I put it back on the track yesterday after reassembly, the locomotive fired up with sound and smoke unit, but it wouldn't do anything for me. It was called "76" on the CAB2 remote but it was like the locomotive forgot its name. So I tried to reprogram it. I turned the power off, flipped the switch to program, put 18v to the tracks (the locomotive fired up with sound and smoke unit), hit ENG->76->SET. Nothing happened. No control over the whistle or movement.
I later discovered the red wire that connects to the handrail was yanked off. No big deal. I soldered it back on there and checked continuity between the red wire and its corresponding handrail, the grey wire and its corresponding handrail, and then each wire to the shell (to make sure I hadn't shorted to the shell). All good there. So I think that the signal should get getting there. I cannot find my CAB2 manual but I had my manual for the locomotive handy so I consulted that. It said I did the right sequence of events for programming the engine. I tried clearing the data for the engine and then reprogramming but no dice.
Hopefully I'm missing something simple and obvious because I'm tired beyond belief. I've been working for three weeks straight and not sleeping enough. I'm starting to wear out and that's likely the root cause of this problem. Anybody got any ideas? I was looking forward to running trains this weekend on the test layout to relax a bit. I have a Legacy B4 and it runs very well. I'm going to download the CAB2 manual tomorrow and consult that. Just haven't had the time.
