"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

OO European trains are 1/76th size but run on HO track. They are a little bit bigger then Ho which is 1/87th.

Mfgs. Like Hornby, Bachmann ( Europe) , and several others make very nice equipment.

I Have always been interested in European steam especially steam engines from Germany and the U.K.  How about you guys?

I enjoy the color and lines of British trains.  I have several Ace/Darstaed for use on my O-gauge track.  Also have several OO sets and building kits.  Plans in my head for creating a British-style layout - I also enjoy the different approach that the British take toward layouts.  Having space for a large permanent layout is less common on the other side of the pond, so there is more of a focus on portable layouts that can be set up at shows.  Also, they tend to model a particular scene to a higher degree of fidelity than we do, with the flip side being that doing so limits the range of what can be portrayed.

I run 00 gauge trains on 3-rail Hornby Dublo track and 2-rail Peco track; the track layout (also including 0 2-rail and 3-rail, N and S) can be seen here :

That photo exhibits a severe lack of focus and direction within the train hobby.  Look at all the different scales, gauges, and types of track!

I'm in the same boat.  We will be neighbors in the looney bin.

I have a collection of European/South American/Asian/Australian OO/HO, every one bought in that country.

Norway - Sweden - Denmark - England - France

Belgium - Luxembourg - Holland - Switzerland - Austria

Italy - Germany - Australia - Japan - Argentina

USSR

The only countries that I have been to that I have not bought a train are

Greece - I've seen Greek models in other European countries, but not in Greece

Finland - Same as Greece, although I only had time to visit one shop in Helsinki who was out of trains.

Singapore/Malaysia - Same as Greece - The train store in Singapore had lots of European and US, but was out of the one Malaysian model they normally stocked

Ireland - A quick trip and although the train store was about 6 blocks from my hotel, I was there on a holiday weekend and the store was closed

Poland - Only had 3 hours free while on a business trip in Poznan and didn't find a train store

Hungary - Saw Hungarian trains, but since I was taking a Romanian train from Budapest to Vienna, I bought a Romanian Coach like I was taking.

Russia (Under Communism) - Bought a TT East German Railcar in a Department Store in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg)

Iceland - A country with no active railways and no commercial models as far as I can tell.

Bermuda - Same as Iceland, although I bought a Bermuda railway sign and book at a shop in Hamilton.

As for a layout, I have a board with 3 loops of HO track (18" radius, 15" radius, 8"radius) that I run the OO trains on.
