Both my friend and I have one and I just ordered a second one. They are great runners! The only issue I've heard about was the horn doesn't work with all transformers. It works fine with a Z 4000 and a post war ZW that has new diodes.
Silver Lake...CTT and upcoming OGR have/will have reviews of RMT GG1. It is an exceptional locomotive. My favorite version is the PRR Tuscan #4877 as I was privledged to have run it and my wife Susie christened it when 1980's restoration was completed. Also rode last train pulled by #4877 in 1980's while in servide for NJ Transit.
Currently, RMT only has 2 versions available...AMTRAK "Savings Bonds' and the blue AMERICAN RAILROADS. On sale for $124.99 each...matching N5C cabosse with smoke feature is $29.99
When these are gone there will be no more!
Thanks.

I just finished running mine for about an hour! I picked one up a week or so ago, and I'm glad I did. It runs fine with an MRC Dual Power 027, and a couple of smaller MTH transformers I have. I was lucky to get a green five stripe in time. I like the die-cast body, and the paint scheme is flawless. Decent horn as well.
Good luck,
Artie
Will the GG-1 horn operate with the Lionel CW-80?
Do they run slow and steady?
Can a ERR cruise be added?

Kevin E...When these remaining GG1s are gone is meant that there will not be any more available in near future. That is, no restock from factory at this time. Possibly in 2014 but will NOT be at this pricing.
Thanks.

Folks,
George Brown of OGR has done a comprehensive review of the RMT GG-1 which will appear in the next issue of the magazine.
At that price I would have bought one for a spare. However, I already own two of them, and even I could not justify buying another RMT GG-1.

ogaugeguy...I never said 2 years for a GG1 restock, just that they could arrive again in 2014.
As far as availability, a review has already been published and many comments were posted on Forums since RMT introduced the GG1 earlier this year. The RMT GG1 is a great deal and I am sorry that you missed out on your favorite roadname/paint scheme.
To those who are still 'on the fence', there are only a handful of GG1s left in stock and...when they are GONE - they are GONE!
Thanks.

that's me, day late and a dollar short. just have to find a Postwar green GG1.
Haven't heard anything whether the GG-1's horn will operate with the Lionel CW-80.
My gut tells me no.

As far as I know, it should work just fine. I've had no trouble getting horns to work with any of my CW-80s.
Thanks Nicole, maybe next time they are offered I will take the plunge.
