What experiences have you who recently purchased those sale priced Williams GG1's had running them with Lionel's CW-80 transformer? Do both the bell and horn function okayl? Asking this because mine's acts funky and when I checked the Williams section of Bachmann Train's forum, there were some posts mentioning that GG1's (as with some MTH engines) don't like the cw-80. Does the GG1 work as well with the CW-80 as it does with other Lionel or MTH transformers?

I haven't had issues with my two Williams steamers with a CW-80 (I guess it would be one now, I converted the hudson to TMCC).
Try putting a lighted car behind it and see if it helps.
I have a WBB GP9 with the same TrueBlast 2 horn and bell. Back when my upper loop was conventional, I used a CW80 and regularly ran the GP9 (soon to be listed on the B/S Forum) but it didn't play nice with the horn and bell. That transformer is in the back room waiting on another project (I'll probably use it to power the lighted structures) and I use MTH Z-1000 transformer bricks and DCS to run my layout.
Adding passenger cars or a lighted caboose were hit and miss with the WBB GP and some MTH PS2 engines. Some would run fine with and without lighted cars, some not at all regardless of lighted cars.
I test ran my new WBB GG1 with a CW80, had no problems.
Two CW-80's power my two-train setup and run my WBB EP-5 just fine, including the horn and bell. I would imagine they would perform equally as well with a GG-1.

There is no bell on true blast 2 and the issues you run into may be caused by reversed polarity. My EP-5 workedoff with the CW 80 before I converted it to TMCC.

From the Bachmann website, re - the EP-5:

I call your attention to the ninth listed feature, "True Blast II® digital horn and bell."
To make absolutely certain I unpacked my EP-5 and sho'nuff, pushed the bell button on the CW-80 and ding ding ding!

Although I don't have a GG-1, I do have another WBB locomotive with True Blast II horn & bell. It works perfectly with both of my CW-80's. And I run mostly at 50Hz too. (I only switch over to inverter supplied 60Hz when running a loco with Trainsounds.)
I think that the problems encountered by some may be due to the age of their CW-80s. I believe that the CW-80 was substantially revised a couple of years ago, and that a lot of the problems were resolved. Mine both have the QC50-OK sticker. I believe that this indicates the revised model that not only works at 50Hz, but also has other revisions to solve earlier problems. I've also used these CW-80s to provide power when running my Legacy system until I replaced them with a TPC300 and locally sourced 150w 18v transformers.
