A few years ago at an auction I purchased this layout(?).  It sits on a 5' by 9' plywood table.  The plywood is painted green with grit in the paint.  As hopefully you can tell from the pictures it is not track on the helix but flat stock turned sideways.

Does anyone have an idea if this was a kit that be purchased or just something someone IMG_4709.1IMG_4710.1IMG_4712.1IMG_4713.1thought would be amusing?

Wow, that answers a lot of questions.  Someone out there at some time in the past apparently had developed these kits that could be assembled into different formats.  Does anyone remember having seen this thing advertised in any of the Train magazines when they were kids.  I believe the guy may be right about this steel being a sewer clean out tape.

Based on what people are asking to these I probably shouldn't say that I only paid $100 bucks.

Bill this looks pretty neat.  What radius/diameter is the track?

Actually , what type of track is that?  It doesn’t look like anything I recognize.

The table is 5' wide.  The loop probably around 36-38".  It is not track but has been identified as probably the steel ribbon used in sewer clean out tool.  Look closely at the one picture and you can see that it is flat stock on edge.
