Dust control for model railroad layout rooms

This is just one, there are many different brands and sizes available from different vendors. Probably even plans out there for DIY versions.

I use 2 dust filtration systems for wood shops mounted under the tables. They will collect about several pounds of dust each every 6 months

Do smaller Portable room dust; cleaners work? rather then industrial sized.

Mine aren't industrial sized, they are for the home work shop person.

Ok thanks Tom. What about those Hepa models, that are room sized I have a finished room and I am more concerned about static and dust from carpet etc on display shelving etc.

Put the trains in a room and then never go in that room.

While my need was unrelated to trains - I had to do something to mitigate the amount of dust that seemed to pile up on all the flat surfaces that could be seen. (I live out in the country - and love to have the windows full open during the spring and fall.) My cheap easy fix??  Two standard 20" box fans with regular household 20x20" air filters set against the intake side.  I set both of them on their 'low' speed as I didn't want to hear the roar 24/7. I was absolutely amazed at how much 'junk' they filtered out of the air.   I suppose one could tape the filter to the fan - but I haven't.  I buy the one-step-up from cheapy filters so replacing them every 3 or 4 weeks doesn't drain the pocket book (aka diverting funds from more important purchases!)
