I was working on wiring my crossing signals in the past week, and the problem that occurs is when I turn the power to my Z4000 on, both the signals flash and they sound the bell, but they don't turn off at all. There doesn't have to be a train on the track to turn them on in the first place. I am trying to wire them up using the isolated rail method, and I did follow the instructions from the Z-Stuff website. I am also trying to use the signals for two sets of track, but even if I just wired them for one track, they will still do the same thing. I'm pretty stumped here, and if I can't figure them out, I might just get a pair of the MTH versions.

If the infared sensors aren’t line up just right and or the distance apart is not correct , that will cause them to keep going. Double check your wiring etc, which I’m sure you have. I had a problem with mine doing the same thing. I had to send them to Dennis Zander from Z-Stuff. He will fix them free. Call or email him. Try turning one of them slightly right and left to line up sensors while they are running. When lined up right they will stop running.
I did try that; I actually unscrewed the signals, because they were outside the 14-inch range, but no matter how close they were, they still wouldn't shut off. Also, I thought if you have the isolated rail, you wouldn't need the sensors anyway.
I didn’t isolate the track. I used Z-Stuff 1011 Block Signals. They work great. When Train passes block signals it fires up the crossings. Check them out on Z-stuff web site or just goggle Z-Stuff 1011 block signals.
They usually come in package with new crossing gates.
Mine did come with the signals, and I actually hooked those up too, since I saw them being used in the diagram for the isolated rail setup. The crossing signals stay on whether the block signals are wired up or not.
Call or email Dennis Zander from Z Stuff. His number and or email is on the website
Yeah, if nothing else can be done, I will call Dennis.
