Thinking about picking up this set, however are those plated side panels pretty durable and do they scratch easily?

A lot would obviously depend on how you handle your equipment, but yes, I believe the plating would be more susceptible to finger prints & scratching than a "normal" car. I know that I have to be EXTRA CAREFUL with my K-Line 21" NYC Empire State Express passenger cars.
Thank you for the reply Hot Water. I'm usually very careful with my engines, but I guess with something like this you just need to be extra cautious. That stainless plated is certainly a thing of beauty.

Yes. I forgot to mention, above, that I put on a cheap pair of soft cotton gloves when handling my K-Line ESE passenger cars.
