I was looking at a set of early 90s Lionel MU cars. Will they work on 0-31 track? They look like the same size as a full madison coach and I'm pretty sure they are too big for 0-27. Thanks

I looked them up in the 1991 catalog. The catalog states "set will run on regular "O" gauge track"
I have these cars but have not run them in a very long time. There is no mention of a minimum track diameter on the box or in the instruction sheet.
They measure about almost 17" coupler to coupler.
I have these cars and they will in fact run on 031. They are very nice cars!

Thanks, Alan
just curious. Mine are from 1991. Have these ever been reissued?
Lionel made a set of cars in Pennsylvania livery in 1992.
I believe both the Lackawanna and Pennsylvania were both four car sets, issued as pairs.
I don't think they were made again.
I seem to recall reading that these cars were actually done overseas, shepherded by Mike Wolf. If so, perhaps they weren't made again due to the split between Mike Wolf and Richard Kughn.
These are among my favorite cars. My wife rode the real ones growing up in NJ.
lionel also made a cc set in New Haven colors. Fred
In addition to the MU cars already mentioned, Lionel made a special for JC Penneys in 2003, decorated for Southern Pacific. It came with a display case.

Yes, I have 2 of these JCP SP's and they did a very nice job with them. TMCC with Railsounds. I love the old school window silhouettes. I have run these on 031 and they work well.
