Pulled it out of storage today. I don't think it has run in the last 4 yrs or so until today. If memory serves me, this was from the first run of these vehicles. I can't remember how it ran before, but today, it's not very fast (I'm thinking that may be intentional in that it is an inspection vehicle??) and the motor makes noise similar to my post-war trolley. Maybe not quite that loud, but, it's louder than any other TMCC loco I have. I oiled it up, cleaned the roller contacts and wheels, and it's running. I would just like to know if others with this build of inspection vehicles have similar performance. Thanks.

Are you talking about the red and white De Soto station wagon inspection car? Didn't know it was re-issued as I haven't seen one for some time.

No, it's a maroon PRR.

Thanks. Very helpful.
They are very slow, at least the three or four I've seen and the one I have are.
I added a strobe and working tail lights to mine.

Thanks. Your upgrades are very cool. If you don't mind, care to share how you did it, what you used?
The beacon is just a standard yellow LED, there happens to be a flash output on the board in the inspection car. It's a board used in other items.
The tail lights are chip LED's glued to some tiny plastic lenses I happened to have in my parts box.
I figured something that was driving down the rails probably should have a beacon, and the taillights were just an afterthought being inside the unit.
Keep in mind the shell is the antenna, so you have to be a bit careful about insulation.
I see, thanks.
