Recently, I noticed a truck cross brace on one of my 200 series cars had one end which was not inserted into the corresponding slots in the truck sideframe. The two tabs first required slight straightening with a pair of forceps. Inserting the tabs required squeezing of both truck sideframes. The next step was to crimp both tabs down by peaning with the custom-flattened tip of an automatic center punch. After several blows on each one, voila, job done with no cosmetic or collateral damage. NOTE: It was easier to pean the tabs with both wheel sets removed, which allowed easier squeezing of the truck sideframes. My flat-tip automatic center punch has also come in handy for rivet tightening, and other tasks. Been using one since 1973.
