Email requirement in profile

I assume you mean a REQUIREMENT to post something on the For Sale or Trade Forum. THAT would actually be a good idea.

 

However, if you mean that it would be a requirement to have ones eMail address included in the individual's profile, in order to become a registered forum member,,,,then not only NO,,,but **** NO!

I was directing the idea more at the buy/sell forum. It can be difficult to discuss a transaction off-forum if you have no idea of their email address.

 

Not sure how you would have that as a requirement if people want the choice of listing in the profile. Maybe the email should be required as part of the signature in a buy/sell ad?

I would not like to see that a requirement to join OGR and I think many people would refuse or put totally bogus emails in there.

If someone is stupid enough to list something for sale and them not make it very easy to get a hold them, well they are just stupid

A valid email address is required to join this forum. However, there are TWO places in your profile where you can enter an email address.

 

The Account Email Address is required, however this address is not visible to the public. Only admins can see this one. You must enter this address because when you register as a member, we send you a confirmation email to verify that the email address you entered is a real, actual, working email address. This is a very common procedure and helps to keep spammers out of here.

 

The other place where you can enter an email address is your Display Email. This is the address which other members can see. Anyone selling items in the For Sale forum should have an email address entered here. This address does NOT have to be the same address which you used in your Account Email.
