Several years ago O bought an old Eel River Lumber Co. steam engine from fleabay. It's obviously an aftermarket plastic body with some very nice detailing, mounted over a Lionel motor. The motor runs flawlessly in reverse but is balky in forward, meaning it goes forward poorly ,starting and stopping. I wish I could post some pictures but  Photobucket and I don't seem to be able to work together. Any suggestions on fixing this problem?

A picture or more information about the setup would be helpful. This would help indicate if there is an E unit, and if it is 2 or 3 position (so we can advice on cleaning/service); it would also show the motor so it can be identified as a single or double winding motor and we could give exploded parts diagrams, part numbers and whatnot for service/replacement.
