A new to me PS2 3V steam engine does not run in command or conventional. The remote finds it OK. The battery reads 2.2 volts. Initially I was getting a "Maintenance Required" message but was able to reset that. I also reset to feature and factory defaults. When I press startup I get fan noise and lights but no sound or movement. Tender light responds to dir. I also pulled the tether and applied DC to the motor and it runs.
Can this be a programing glitch or something dead on the board.
I pulled the PS 2 boards out to examine and see no obvious faults. I noticed the 4 lead device in the heat sink gets slightly warm when on the tracks with voltage applied to charge the battery. Assume this is normal but if this is in fact a full wave bridge ohmmeter readings seem odd, not like 4 normal diodes.
This is my first experience with a dead MTH engine so am still learning my way around. Any tips appreciated.
