As always, necessity often breeds invention.
The other day when my trains started slipping I knew it was time to clean the track, and of course no sense in doing that if you don't do the engines as well. I purchased a CMX track cleaning tank car ( which I highly recommend if you have a big layout with hard to reach spots) and began to get ready to do the engines.
I was tired of trying to balance the engines between two tables, so I looked around my layout and realized I had perhaps the perfect quick solution. Yes, I could have started yet another project of building a nice cradle down in my wood shop, but I often get tired of having to do 4 projects to do 1 project. I spied one of the many WalMart plastic folding step stools I have around my layout turned it upside down and grabbed a couple of 1x6s from under the layout, stuck some bubble wrap in out a viola there it was.
