Hello all:  I have a MTH  Premier Erie Triplex (the pride of my locomotive fleet) the locomotive  is 1 year and 3 months old.  Somehow it is stuck in reverse. Ok, I probably did something and did not realize it. It will not reset.    I cannot get it to neutral so I can reset it.  Has anyone had this problem, if so what is the fix.  I am sing a MTH Z4000 transformer.

Thanks in advance, Melvin

Mth premierp Erie trplex 4 cars caboose set from 2017

Using it in conventional or dcs?

Dcs issues I encountered.

I had issues with mine at first when I started running it new out of box using mth dcs, z4000.  The engine could not be found by the remote,  couldn't read engine on track, no engine # and info,  yet would respond to thumbwheel only for speed control.  No other commands would work, brand new out of the box.

Let it rest for a few months, disconnected all mth tv's equipment, ran it conventional with z4000 for a while, okay so far, hooked up all mth dcs , did read on controlled, found it gave it is #, everything ok for now.

It's likely locked in one direction.  Operate in conventional, turn the smoke unit off and throttle up.  Lower the voltage as low as it will go, but is still moving (8-9 volts).  Press the whistle button, then the bell button three times.  You should get a confirmation double whistle blast, if successful.  It will likely take multiple tries.  Once unlocked, operation in F-N-R should be restored.

I 'll try that, did to ry multiple times, only once or twice.  I'll just keep going till something does something.

Does this one have a battery?

Possibly very relevant question that hasn't been answered and could be related to the problem.  If a PS2 w/ low battery, operating problems will likely occur.  If a PS3 w/o battery then the problem and remedy could be elsewhere.  MTH model number (20-xxxx-x) also helps target responses.

I assume it has a battery as it takes time to "boot up"  They system is Proto 2, using on conventional with Z4000 transformer, with program button (???) The model # is not in the owners manual.

Guys, thanks for all the input.  I am going let the engine sit for 10 days, then try again.  Hopefully something will happen.

Hopefully ... This is a tough one because we don't know what engine you have outside of it's a triplex. Could be proto-2 (battery) , proto 3 ( no battery) rail king or  premier version?  What the cab number?   You could also have a faulty board....  Time will  eventually tell... good luck.
