I am trying to install ERR in a MTH Dreyfus Hudson.  This engine has flickering firebox light, fan driven smoke unit, lighted drivers.  There are a ton of wires in the engine and there are a lot of pins in the tether.  It also has some kind of large board through which a lot of this stuff if routed in the engine.  The ERR install book does not show how to handle something like that.

Does anyone know how to handle this?

If the Hudson has proto one, then you can just leave the lighting boards alone and they will continue to do their job.

Generally you install the ERR boards in the tender and the four pin tether carries:

-third rail power

-outside rail ground

-motor brush one

-motor brush two

Usually you insulate the tender body from the chassis and use the entire tender body for an antenna.

In other words, gut the electronics in the tender and leave the loco alone.

If the loco is already proto TWO or THREE, than that is a different story.
