This past weekend ,I went to an estate sale at what was Glady's Train Store in San Diego, it has been closed almost 25 years and building was being cleaned out and sold. Lots of interesting items where sold. The display item pictured was passed over by buyers and was still there the last day. I figured it was part of a dealer store display, but it took a while searching the internet to find it.

I brought it home and discovered it is part of a rare Lionel post war D-40 factory dealer display, circa 1951. I am posting photos of item and photos of complete Item I found on internet. A complete display sold at Stouts for $6500.

Thanks for posting. I love the old Lionel Dealer displays.

Define easy the semaphore is a tough one to repro correctly due to multiple screens needed and size. Takes 4 to 6 hours to do correctly

It depends on if you want to try and do an exact reproduction or if close enough, is good enough. By easy I mean, no special tools or materials are needed other than a straight edge and some good masking tape. Actually it would be quite easy if you had access to an original to copy.

If I had the piece the OP found I doubt I would even try to make a duplicate. Rather make the shelves longer and maybe install lighting in the semaphore and make it actually operate. Something a collector would never do to theirs.
