Hello,

I’m new to the forum but not the love for trains.
I’m having a problem with Fastrack. My Christmas oval grew into a figure eight. The cross track where the eight crosses always derailed my Marx engines. I took the cross apart and removed the plastic re railer which was good for the engines. However by removing the plastic re railer I created a bit of a space where the cars have to jump sometimes causing uncoupling of a car.
anyone run into this?

Does Fastrack make such a cross without the plastic?

i want to run Lionel, Marx and American Flyer on the same tracks  I am open to any ideas  Super O? Tubular track or anything

I should add that almost all my stuff is pre-war except the cattle corrals and oil derrick

thank you very much,

peteriv

Peteriv,

This isn't a problem with FastTrack.  It's a problem with Marx.

Many Marx locomotives use a motor and drive wheel assembly that has thick wheels, as the result of gearing designed into the back of those wheels.  The extra thickness is likely what is causing the problem.

Your loco probably won't be able to navigate most track switches, other than those made by Marx, for the same reason.

The only alternatives I'm aware of come from the Czech Republic, from a company called Merkur.

Here's a link into the middle of a thread that discusses Merkur track and switches:
