i bought a couple of these on the bay. They were used. When I put either of them within my loop, they shorted out my track. anybody else have this type of issue?

I'm at work and your video's are being blocked. But I had this happen with MTH Real Track that I bought used. Someone flipped the center and outside rail with jumpers on the underside of the track for some reason I never could figure out.
It was a quick fix. Hopefully your Fast Track had the same guy working on t, if so his solder work should be obvious.
Does this wiring look correct? Nothing happens when I push the button. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, jeff

I was looking at an online diagram. I thought power came from the rails. Do I need to run wires to it like I would if I was wanting to power it?
In your picture, the red lead needs to come from the somewhat obscured track power to work. And connect power to the track. Or, you can use (add) aux power where you have the red lead connected now.
Chuck. Thanks for the reply. I just want to use track power. So, if I understand, this piece doesn't get power from the track??? Do I need to run a middle rail track wire to where red wire is now or slot next to it???
thanks, jeff
I'm confused by your picture. Are those wires going to a switch to activate the uncoupler? Or are they power? If they are power, don't do that because you can over heat the coil in the uncoupler.
You need to connect power to the track by using the pins on the rails just as if it were connected to track on the layout. Then you connect your switch, one lead to the connection on the uncoupler track labeled "track pwr". The label is embossed on the plastic next to the connection. It is obsecured by a plastic over it and is below the double connector you had your red wire connected to. Then the other wire from the switch goes to the connection that you have the black wire connected.
Another way for what Chuck said is to simply move the red wire down 2 slots. It is slightly hidden. That is track power. The one it is currently connected to is for auxiliary power.
I may have confused Chuck but I got to thinking about what he said. I moved the red wire and "powered" it off the center rail. It worked. I do think I'll run an accessory wire to the red for power. Thanks to all. Childhood at 50 gets me some times
