I am wiring all of my Uncoupling tracks to an independent power source and to Lionel 90 button controllers.  I will wire a PTC resettable fuse in series for each section as well.  Does the PTC go in the power source positive wire or in the controller wire?

I want to separate control of the uncoupling magnet from the activation rails in my Operating Tracks as well using the same approach to protect overheating of the magnets.  Can someone tell me the specifics of how to do so?  I will run these sections off of the same power source as the Uncoupling Tracks (12-14 volts).  Finally, what type of switch should I use for the activation rails.

Thanks in advance.

Be sure to use a good quality pushbutton. The one that comes with the fastrack unclupler can stick, which soon melts the uncoupler track, and a total loss of your $$$.  I lost at least 3 uncouplers due to a sticking pushbutton.

I replaced the Lionel plastic pushbutton with a push-on, spring release off button that I got from my Hobby store, however there are many types on the market that would do fine, just be sure the quality is good. The pushbutton costs a few bucks, the fastrack uncoulpler track is in the $30-$40 range.

The button I used was a design that I could mount on a local control panel with a map of the track plan, so the operator could see which pushbutton to press.
