Question for the folks who use felt covering for the table top on their layouts. I've been shopping around the internet and cannot find a good source for rolls of heavy felt. The SGMA had a link on their site to a place that seems to now be out of business. Otherwise, I can't find a source. My layout is 8x16 and plan to use felt for a postwar style look. Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks.

I use grass mats from JTT Scenery Products, which are available in a variety of shades in 50" x 100" rolls; the product is a felt-coated paper, which is thinner and easier to cut than heavy felt or synthetic grass carpets.
Most hobby stores have the product in stock, but it also can be ordered from JTT (http://miniaturetree.com/55-grass-mat).
Hope this helps!

Keep us posted and post pictures as you go along. I'm interested in this style layout as well
If there are any stores in your area that sells or repairs pool tables, check them out.
Indoor/ Outdoor green carpeting like you might find at Home Depot has always worked for me.
I haven't been in Lowes for a couple years but they had a nice green indoor outdoor carpet. It would be rolled and wrapped in plastic located near the check out. It looks PW. Dave
I got my green felt at Hobby Lobby
I usually go to Michael's for those types of supplies.
I just ordered more from Amazon:

Has anyone used felt as roadbed under track? I imagine that it would help with noise, but looks probably questionable.

I put my track on top of the felt. Probably helps reduce the noise level, but I use S-Trax which is quiet anyway.

There is a large selection of felt at JoAnn Fabrics. $7.99 a yard 72" width.

That's a great price, Scott. Way better than Amazon...

I used felt years ago for my Christmas layout during my HO era, and the lint got into drive rods ext. never again. I bought the cheap grass carpet at Lowes for my permanent layout and it works great.
