I'm sure I am not the only one who finds parts while cleaning track. Usually, an occasional screw, or piece of plastic air hose, or something small and generally minor.
And, when I do, I put it in a small compartment, in a storage unit, just for found parts. Over the years I have accumulated quite a collection of screws, washers, air hoses, etc., and sometimes I find where they belong. A little while ago, today, while cleaning track, I found something a little larger, unusual and more obvious, to find near a track. An air pump, from a steam locomotive (Lionel). I have spent the last hour tying to find the locomotive it belongs to. I'll try again tomorrow. What unusual parts have you found on your layout, and have you always found the engine they came from?
