Had my first successful Component level repair on a PS-3 Steam engine. Unfortunately, not too many components are sized for repair, but some of the main one are. At this point looks like motor drive, and smoke will be repairable faults. More to follow. G

Cool. In the old PS2.0 I repaired the Ti 16 pin audio amp, man was that small. I put it on a penny, it fit in Lincoln's head. I can only imagine PS3.0 being made with even smaller parts. Would you have parts to repair the MTH DCS Comannder? It is labeled TI 40056 I think it may be this TPS40056
Chip I need to repair my DCS commander.
This was the chip I fried installing a kit into an MTH 2 rail Bigboy. Those original run MTH 2 rail had PS0, nada, nada, nil, zip, zilch. Repaired it in 06 and she still runs great today.
Are the components through mounted or surface mounted?
Michael I don't have that chip. You may try Digikey. Everything is surface mounted except the Bridge rectifier. G
Mouser has them here. Looking at the datasheet however shows a power pad under the chip. Will more than likely need a hot air setup to replace it.
Ok thanks. Guest I have to source it next order I need to make. I have a DIY hot air iron.
