Nostalgia for my youth.

Did a search of "Fishbowl Bus" on the site and it came up empty. Does anyone have or use the old 1970's GM Fishbowl buses (Corgi, Lionelville, etc.) on your layouts? If so, please post some pictures as I would love to see them. I have a Green Busch HO model and a Blue NYC MTA Bus that I measured out to 1:80 sitting at my desk at work along with a old London Routemaster Double-decker Bus. The Busch model is a generic bus but in my mind its the Green livery that plied the streets of the rotting apple in the 1970's.

I plan on eventually buying 2 of the 1:50 models out there and try my first attempt at weathering, or should I say "1970's New Yorkering" and make the buses look beat up with some graffiti marks on the silver side panels. One bus for the layout and one for the desk. Something to think about this year.

GM fishbowls have a lot of nostalgia for me also. I have several that I intend to use on my O gauge layout. They date from 1959. I saw my first fishbowl on display at the 1960 Montreal Sportsmans Show that I attended with my dad. Several dozen, later to become hundreds, had been purchased by the Montreal Transit Commission.
It had a lot of "wow" factor as it was the first bus that I had seen that used fluorescent lights so it was much brighter inside than the other city buses in use at that time.

Absolutely fabulous photos by all!

It's wonderful seeing the legendary Fishbowl (and its predecessor) still running routes, even if it is on a layout and not in real life.

SIRT and Transit Modeler - Looking at those Green MTA buses made me think I was right back in Brooklyn as a youth. It should be interesting for me to print the ads from the bus photos on nycsubway.org and affix them to the models.

Seeing the elevated tracks reminded me of how I have been going back and forth for the past 6 months or as to whether to have elevated tracks or subway tracks on my yet to be built layout other than the temporary Christmas one which is coming down this weekend). As of now, the subway is winning out because it will leave more room "up on the ground" for action accessories, but that's another topic.

Keep those photos coming folks! Anyone have a pictures of the CTA Corgi Bus? Or the Los Angeles Metro bus used in the movie Speed?
