My first boyhood train set was the Lionel Southern Express set. The loco is your basic mid-70s cheap plastic toy engine. I actually have two - one that I ran to death and the other is unopened. Just ran the used one after lubricating - still runs! but makes hideous scrapping sounds from inside. The never run loco doesn't work at all. For nostalgic reasons I want to restore both to perfect condition. LHS charges $50/hr plus parts. Don't know if that's a good/bad rate? Also how difficult would it be to do myself- are the entirety of the guts a simple swap out? Don't really have time to do much more myself Thanks. Peter
