The drive belt on my Lionel 6-24147 sawmill snapped. Lionel service shows the part, 620-4147-056, "Unavailable".
Any ideas of where I could find one or what I could use as a substitute?

Yo Prof....
Have two (2) possible sources. Jeff @ The Train Tender 585-229-2050
George Tebolt Spencertown, NY. Google him and you should find his Phone #
Third possibility...Go on ebay...look under Lionel Trains and put in "parts" and a number of pages of lionel parts will come up. Good luck

I always wondered about the belt in my old saw. It looks like the typical film strip in an eight mm reel movie projector except it has the metal tabs. Maybe someone knows as an alternative product.
Looks to me like 16mm Don. I have a lot of old 16mm films... if you think you could splice it into a loop...I could send a piece if it would help!

I usually have excellent results with Jeff Kane also. You might try, Mike's Trains & Hobbies. He out of Lompoc, CA. He does have a web store.
There is a slotted 'drive belt' to facilitate pushing the logs and boards through. Also a smaller round band to run the big saw in the window. My smaller band broke and I've gerry rigged a rubber band, which doesn't work that well. I think you are asking about the main drive belt, no?
This place shows it available. Lionel 6-4147-056 flat drive belt, $1.00. You might give them a call.
This is the rubber-band like "flat drive belt", not the film-like conveyer belt that actually moves the logs.
Turns out S&W parts has one - I'll be ordering from them!
Two good places to find small parts:
McMaster Carr
Stock Drive
Stock Drive specializes in belts, pulleys, gears, shafts, etc.
McMaster has a huge amount of small parts.
That's cool, because that's the one I need one too! Thanks
George Tebolt has no phone number available. You can only contact and buy by email. He doesn't often get back to you in a timely manor. That is why I don't fool with him anymore.

Hi all.
If you're looking for the filmstrip conveyor belt, Brasseurs has them. Item #0464-045 is listed for $6.00.
