I am in need of a circuit that will flash 8 LEDs at once. Just a short, bright flash and maybe a 5-7 second delay between flashes. I want to use small, round, white light LEDs. If the color is a bit on the cool blue side, that's OK. I was looking on the 'net and found this circuit diagram. If you have a better idea, please post it.

NE555 Flasher circuit

Now for the questions:

1. What is the best way to provide the 4-5vDC necessary? I plan to use the 10vAC post on a MTH Z4K, which means I would put in a bridge rectifier and some means to lower the voltage.

2. Will this circuit drive 8 LEDs?

3. Do I wire them in series as shown, just adding another 6 into the line? Or is there a better way?

4. Do I need a current limiting resistor? I do not see one here.

5. What components do I vary to change the flash duration? The flash interval?

Thanks,

Chris
