I have three MTH engines with PS 2 ...5 volt boards and they all have "Flickering Lights" with the smoke Unit "ON". One is Premier Challenger, Premier H-10 Consolidation and a Railking FEF 4-8-4. I know there is a published way to trouble shoot these and maybe get them repaired, I just wondered if anyone on the Forum has had experience with these and can give some advice.

Thanks!

I see from your signature you are a MTH service tech. In the service manual for PS2 a fix is described for the problem. The solution is involved as it requires as I remember re routing some wires and adding a resistor. It may be easier to simply rewire the lights converting to LEDs and  to run off track voltage.

I want to thank all of you for your input and replies to this rather daunting task. I'm always looking for a better way to do things as I'm a "dyed in the wool train guy."

It's nice to see so many of you are too!

FYI

I am converting a lot of different Locos to LED use. I feel this is a better, brighter, cooler and more permanent solution to a number of problems weather MTH or any other system.

This forum seems to be the best place to share ideas and learn, I appreciate that we have a positive environment to do this.

Thanks to you my friends and OGR!

Dave,

Did you just try swapping the blue wires from the mux board to the 12 pin connector on the board? All your doing is swapping the wires. It takes a little, but you can lift up the little tab that holds the pin in and pull it out. Plus make sure you mark where they go just so you don't forget.

Let us know what happens.
