SOME THOUGHTS

Fish in the Aquarium car —Yes

New Trucks for Cyl Hoppers —Yes

New Legacy SD70’s —Yes

Spirit Yes but no GB 41?

No new Tooling Boo

No new Track  Boo

No new Accessories  Boo

Maybe we will get some new tooling in Vol2 like last year (SD40 or GS4 please)

Maybe with the good sale of the Cyl Hoppers and SD 70’s Lionel may consider (Re Consider) more new rolling stock.

NOTE TO LIONEL:  If you would just comment positively on my last statement you might see sales of those two items rise.

Thanks for the listing.  I'm surprised that there are no new roads for the woodside reefers or auto carriers.  Not even new numbers?  I guess my cylindrical hopper collection will grow.  I guess they will be shorter than the older ones.  Looks like we will have to wait for LC 2.0.

I braved the impending snowstorm in my trusty/rusty Jeep, and got a copy of the catalog from my LHS.

Now it is all clear. No blurry screen captures.

SD70s  in new road names. The CSX and the non-flag UP are correct and were built as upper headlight units. Even the cab numbers are correct for the body casting. The rest of the offerings should have nose mounted headlights, but you've heard that song from me before. I'd love to have the CN units, but sorry, $600 each for the headlight in the wrong place stops my ordering them.

Same Berkshires. Nice selection of GP7s.

Ooh, PRR work-train set. Definitely ordering that.

Cylindrical hoppers with new lower trucks. I'll order a bunch. All is forgiven Lionel, Bring on those 57' mechanical reefers now.

The old Gilbert piggyback cars. Always bemused by those tiny trailers, but all look good in the new roadnames. Triple and single dome tank cars in attractive liveries. As are 3 bay covered hoppers, and other traditional cars.

So, as I predicted, if you don't count the lower cylindrical hopper trucks, no new tooling, but definitely stuff in new roadnames I'll buy.

Don't do Legacy, so that's a no go.

Got a couple of Berks, and Geeps (like FC, especially does my grandson).  My PE already has 6 cars and cylindrical hoppers don't interest me.  The rest are non starters or already on order.  PRR work train?  A solid maybe.

Already have a layout with SHS track with hand made switches, so that's out.

Bottom line.... meh.  Sorry guys.  At least I'm not disappointed.

Slightly out of context, but another question regarding the FlyerChief controls.   Isn't there now a "universal" controller for FC so that one doesn't have to have a controller dedicated to each loco?  Since some of you have FC experience, am I remembering this correctly?  Weren't the first issue FC's single loco? - and if so, presumably the 'universal' controllers are backwardly compatible?

I do now recall - thanks to Mark - the availability of the Bluerail bluetooth board that sounds as if its reliable (?) - though the website makes it sound like a next generation board is in the works.  I haven't really studied up on this option - maybe going with a FC/BT loco is a way to get my feet wet.  I have vintage Flyer, SHS and AM locos - so still run everything with AC.  I do have a TMCC setup that I haven't wired up yet - next project... (I do have the Flyonel  2-8-2 and 4-6-2 with TMCC)

My layout has 3 loops...one O scale and two S scale. I can run trains on all 3 loops at the same time with the one remote. With two universal remotes you could control 6 trains, 3 remotes controls nine trains... and so on. However you'd need six arms to make it work!

Not to mention needing a multiplexed brain...!  My wife thinks I'm such a linear thinker (actually more a linear 'do-er') that she's surprised  I can walk and chew gum at the same time...

thanks for the information regarding the universal FC remote.
