Doug was a great friend when he lived in Racine, WI, working for Johnson Wax. When he moved to PA, he gave me the lumber from his then G scale layout because he didn't want to take it along to PA and knew he'd have a different size space he'd be working with there. Once I had rebuilt my Lionel layout with his lumber, I named my main freight yard, Tome Yard, in his honor. Fortunately, both he and his wife, Jean, were able to see his lumber reused on my layout the couple times they came back to Racine to see friends and restock their pantry with J-Wax items. He had many railroad friends in the Racine area and will be missed by those of us here. I will especially miss our daily emails we had until his final turn a few weeks ago.
Rest in peace, Doug. All of us in WI and PA will miss you.
