I have basically the same problem with my Cab-2 as Fredstrains described a handful of topics down. The right hand red LED continuously blinks rapidly, and the speed bar sweeps to full throttle. If I power off and on it stops, but resumes within a few seconds or immediately if I push any button. So it sounds like a communication malfunction that requires the remote to be shipped to Lionel for service? I didn't try changing the Cab-2's channel, but that probably isn't going to be a fix. This is my second Cab-2 which I purchased in 2015. Didn't last long! The previous lasted nine years until my grandson dropped the remote. Poor guy felt bad, and I felt bad he felt bad! Can anyone tell me a ballpark for this type of repair? I know it depends on what part or how much repair time they will put into it, but I may need time to save if a costly repair.

The warranty on the Legacy 990 set has not expired yet. They have been fixing them right along since they first came out as well as updating the base electronics charging circuit (mainly for bases older than ?).

Call them or email    https://www.lionelsupport.com/ContactUs/.

They will want the base and remote together, no power supply unless that is the problem. If you have more than one set, mark them as pairs so you will know what went in and what didn't. They lack serial numbers.
