Just a thought about FSOT and WTB Forum lists - Does anyone else think it would be nice to have the items broken up into the major forum groups,i.e. - Tin-plate, O gauge, HONG, etc., so you can go specifically to your interests or have a choice to look at all the listings?

Not so much a series of categories, but the subject lines need to give a clue. I tend to ignore all that do not reference "tin" or Std Gauge.

I agree. It is best to put a category in the subject line.
agreed, need more than a generic "for sale, or wanted" in the title.
It helps a lot if folks use fully descriptive topic headings for ALL posts. Then the advanced search function is very effective for people to find specific topics, plus you can search independently in different forums.
I agree with al the others, better descriptions are needed for the topic headings, not more groups. Ace has a very good point too, this applies to all threads, not just For Sale and Wanted. Would make searching a lot easier everywhere.
It is sometimes difficult to make an accurate description in one line that is usually pretty short. I have trouble with this and am guilty of being inaccurate as well, but the headings can be edited if you later think of something better.
