Saw this today, no one has posted so I figured it would make a nice thread...
They look spectacular to me, but I'll leave it to the pros and those who order them to discuss.

Those were definitely fun to look at (and dream about owning!)

My thoughts exactly. That ATSF is,I think,my favorite scheme...

Oh I agree, those ATSF units are amazing.
Really nice stuff, thanks for sharing.
Was chatting with Roger Lewis about the F units since he was representing KEY at the March Meet.
Should be schweet!

Beautiful pieces.
It will be interesting to see how these compare to the upcoming 3rd Rail Models.

Are any of their dc/dcc Cab Forwards available to purchase with sound?
Thank you
My understanding is they are all sold out. Glad I have one on reserve!
wow those are super

You can still reserve them. It is very unlikely they will be available for several years after they are delivered; like 10-15 years. OBTW, the retail is ~$7500.

$7,500.00; you're kidding, correct???
never heard of any O Scaler paying that much for an O Scale engine.

Where does anyone get the $7500.00 price from? I have never seen a price on the Key Models web site.
My post was kind of tongue in cheek. I am very happy that there are wonderful models being created in both 2 & 3 Rail O-Gauge that don't go into the upper atmosphere in terms of pricing. No knock on Key for those who want to invest these find of dollars.

Martin H are you getting one.
I have an G Scale LGB/Aster (Brass) South African Garratt that has full sound, lights and smokes . More rare than any CabForward and for less money and I don't have room to run it.

Martin, just having some fun with you. It's also out of my league; couldn't run this one either.
Is it true that one can still reserve the Key SP Cab Forward? What is the minimum radius?
Thanks,

Answering my own question; they are available in DC/DCC with sound per youtube video.
Went to their website which doesn't list their dealers?????.
Stumbled across Caboose Hobbies in Colorado which carries their engines.
May give then a call

Daylight's engine is a real work of art,I have been privledged to see it up close. It is really understandable why some of you modelers concentrate your efforts on the finer details. All of you guys have helped to raise the bar for all of us who are less inclined to persue the finer points of the hobby. No doubt.

My guess is a 4&1/2 ft radius which equals a 9 foot curve in 3 rail terms.
An MTH G scale Erie Triple (articulated) calls for a 4 ft min radius (8 ft curve) minimum and have watched one go around that radius without a problem.
Would look much better on larges radius curves so I am guessing that this Key CabForward could do the same in O Scale as a minimum.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Love the fidelity of O scale but too late to change for me

Martin, you are correct. Went to Allegheny Models website yesterday and found that beauty. Now I understand the saying (ignorance is bliss)!

Thank you Eric!
I'm a modern era modeler, but the EMD FT's always capture my interest. All the old F units look nice, but nothing looks so elegant and graceful as the FT's. Linn Wescott has a set of photos in March 2001 Trains magazine showing a few trains traversing Tehachapi Loop in 1949, with the last photo being an ABBA Santa Fe FT set. Absolutely Stunning!
Every time I see that photo, it makes me think about what it must have been like for the general public, but more in particular for a railfan seeing, these FT's for the first time. I can imagine it probably being a (WTH) moment for most railfans. I can also imagine that some railfans were excited to behold this new style of motive power, while other's probably weren't too thrilled about something new!
EMD hit a home run with the design of the FT in my opinion. Maybe some of my fondness for them is due to their role in railroad history.
The Key models look very nice and Sunset did a nice job on their FT's too! Nice!
Erik, I changed the thread tittle to avoid confusion.
