I finished the rear section of the girder bridge over the past week and installed it. I need to blend the weathering of the girders to match them a bit better but I'm overall happy with the results.
I need to ballast the siding and add more details on either end but I'm happy with the results.

Bob, well done, it certainly fills that area in nicely. The weathering and scenery blends it in perfectly and gives an appearance it’s been there for years.

Construction of the diesel service facility is nearing completion with only the side shop and roof left to do. As stated earlier the side shop will house the employee break room, locker room, restrooms and boiler/air compressor room. The side shop will be left removable as I scour the internet for some of those details. I can easily see how this could be a project in itself. I did however find some 3d printed lockers that are coming across the pond from the UK.

Rather then finish the roofs in tar and gravel as the instructions recommended I chose a rolled roofing look instead. The technique came from Norm Charbonneau and the results are outstanding, thanks Norm. Paper tape is used to simulate the rolled roofing ( that is tape that has a paper finish, not tape used for paper ). It can be found at CVS. A quick search of the internet revealed that rolled roofing comes in 36' lengths so I cut the tape into scale 36' lengths and staggered the joints using a 6" overlap. It was then sprayed primer grey and then lightly dusted with a rattle can of flat black to give it some color variation.

Almost done but first there are some loose ends.

Gooseneck lamps were installed over all exterior doorways.

Earlier during the build an inspection platform for the interior was constructed while waiting for subassemblies to dry.

And of course every industrial building needs a smoke stack and this one's no different.

At this point the service facility is ready for the layout. This has been a fun build.

Have a good week everybody.

Urban scenery has become one of my favorites to build. Lately, I've been upgrading wiring, i.e., larger gauge and shorter runs to power districts to my downtown buildings and "Streets" by Bachmann (formerly K-Line). The slip-on wires keep falling off the tabs of the "Streets" and so finally I bit the bullet and soldered them on. I also took the opportunity to install more streetlights.

Wonderful work everyone. Thanks for sharing. Alan, glad to see your new work space is staying busy!! Love all your tanks. This week I finished the painting etc on a bridge that will extend my upper track level  next to Alan’s steel mill. I just put some weathering detail washes on a scenic express stone abutment that will be on the curved end of the bridge. Once I get that installed later today, I will begin to make a wooden backbone for the earthen portion that will extend the upper track level beyond the bridge. Lastly, I modified a Lionel wooden billboard with a US steel advertisement I put together from old photos. I really like how it came out, just need to wire the lighting. Have a great week everyone! Thanks for sharing.

coach joe:

The employee break area will be located towards the front where the picture was taken. Lockers will line the wall on the left. A hall will then run down the right side ( window side ) with a doorway for the restroom. The hallway will then dead-end at another door to the boiler room. Not alot of room to work with but I think it can be done.
