Excuse me if this is old news, but I ran across something that might be interesting.

Not rarely, one has trouble finding parts lists and diagrams on the Lionel web site. I today saw an ad for a 6-28065 command upgradeable Hudson, but a search for parts turned up nothing. Indeed, a few years ago there were a few threads here with questions about that exact engine. I then searched by the road name and number (NYC 5412) and found that loco as part of a set, 6-21988. Lo and behold, searching replacement parts for the set showed the engine and tender, each with a complete parts breakdown!

I just posted a partial breakdown here to prove a point. Same thing appears to work for the RTR stuff, the popular 7795 0-8-0 has no parts listing of its own, but as part of set 6-30103 you can see the whole thing.

If you knew all that, sorry to bore you, but it was news to me!

Good info, and I'm sure not everyone has tumbled to this fact.  There's a lot of information on the Lionel site that is not that easy to search out, this is but one example.  Try finding the latest Legacy update files or the LSU program.

I'll see your Lionel and raise you the MTH repair parts department...

I have tried to find the LSU program. I had to find MartyE's post here with a link to it, I never found it on my own. I sure hope Marty E keeps those links up dated or this might be my last version update.

The search by road name and number is a good tip. I was not aware of that one.

When Lionel first updated their website they had no link to the repair parts site. I think that may have been recitfied but I never go to their main site anymore as I find it fairly useless. Fortunately, whoever designed the replacement parts page left it unalternate and only changed the site name to lionelsupport.com. Everything works as it did before pretty much except they have been removing older items which is a shame.

One plus for MTH's website is you can find just about everything they ever made......except for repair parts.
