I want to lift my track up off the plywood with foam risers!  Two fold questions.  Can track be glued to foam and ballasted as screws will not grip foam?  Also if you ballast and glue or ballast and screw GarGraves can the track be retrieved in the future and used again?  I may move at some future date and hope not to destroy track if ballasted and glued or screwed if it needs to be lifted up!  I am using AMI Instant roadbed which is tacky on both sides!  Love it!  It is out of production but being made by Scenic Express under a generic name.

This is a trick we used at the club. It is not the best but it worked. Take those red plastic anchors that are used to mount to masonry and push them into the foam using some construction adhesive to glue them in place. Now mount your track using screws that are only just big enough to grip the plastic anchors. Remember, the foam is not that strong so don't attempt to get the screws very tight, you only want to hold it in place. Once laid install ballast in the usual way.

John,
Another option is to use the small wire ties. You can go around the track with the catch part under the table where it won't be seen ,pull it tight and it won't show when you ballast.
You can reuse the straight sections after you ballast them but it'll take a wire brush and a scrapper of some kind like the back side of an X- acto knife to get it clean.

With using the AMI roadbed, you may not need too much glue as it has some holding power of its own as long as you lay the track down while the roadbed is "fresh." Otherwise, it tends to attract dust and looses a lot of the grip. I have used white glue successfully to glue track down (don't use carpenters glue). Spread a thin layer out, press the track into it and use some masking tape to keep it there overnight. A good soak from water from a spray bottle will allow it to come off easy. Some have reported that latex caulk also works well - a puttyknife under the rails will remove track without destroying it.
