I rarely run my (large) layout in darkness, letting my trains and accessories light the way, but I did so the other evening.

From the corner of my eye I see a very small light flashing from one of my Gargraves Turnouts. My first thought was ease up on the peyote, or maybe I was having another senior moment.

Upon further inspection with a magnifier, it was coming from one of the Rail Spikes used to hold the short Black Rail to the Turnouts plastic Base. The Spike was arcing at the point it touched the Rail.

It turns out that a second Turnout also had the same going on (out of about 25 Turnouts on my layout).

I mean I'm running this layout over ten (10) years and it never occurred to me to look for something like this.

I'm guessing this has to be causing havoc to the DCS Signal on that channel, or maybe even across all Channels from that TIU.

Short of pulling the Turnout for a Fix, I'll try and clean up with some alcohol, then apply some electrical goo to increase conductivity.

Any thoughts or insight welcomed...
