GE CEO Flannery announced today that GE will divest itself of it's locomotive business. So... Go it alone or bought by, or just gone as not profitable enough.
My guess, a Chinese or other foreign company will be willing to pay for it.

Well, the end has arrived for the maker of Amtrak Genesises and GEVOS, and U-boats, etc. Looks like Siemens will be the future locomotive builder for Amtrak.

OR possibly a business blunder. We have all seen plenty of mistakes made in business:
- New Coke
- The Edsel
- Penn Central
I think I heard they are getting out of the light bulb business, too.

Maybe not the proper forum for it but I have to wonder what GE plans on making/manufacturing to turn a profit.
Or are they simply going to sell off all their assets and license their trademark and logo to be plastered on all kinds of junk?
Seems to be the route for most poorly managed post-industrial businesses.
