I'll admit that I have a soft spot for the early TMCC GP-9 diesel locomotives. I have a handful of them running around including the AEC, Hot Rod, Southern Pacific, and others. Sadly the use of Gargraves track and one steep grade have relegated many of these to the lower loop of the layout or the shelf due to their Magnetraction not gripping the rails. My son love to see these run and I would like to give them the ability to roam the entire layout with some added pulling power. Does anyone know if Lionel ever produced the GP-9 style of truck with the wheels cut for traction tires, or would it be something that I would have to have the wheels machined for tires? Input would be appreciated.
