I put the tree up tonight and broke out my uncles old 665 Hudson out.  It ran fine about 3 years ago when I ran it last.  Since then it has sat on a display shelf over my layout until it was packed away carefully when the layout came down about 3 months ago. 

 

I tried running it today around the tree on Fastrack with a CW-80.  It really just sat there and moaned and groaned but barely ran.  I did lube up all the running gear, but haven't replaced the grease in it in some time.  Tomorrow I will get some grease and re-grease it. 

 

Could it be the Cw-80?  I have always ran it with my post war TW in the past.

Try your postwar transformer and see if it works. The starting current required for a postwar loco with hard grease might be too high for the overload circuits in the CW-80. But the way to tell is by substitution.

I will dig it out tonight after the kids go to bed.  It is packed away currently.
