I have a problem this morning. I have a gg1 4907 very early version of command control. I have lost the signal when i put the metal cab on. It works fine when it is off. I oiled the engine up a couple of days ago and I have had trouble since, i do believe. I have never used this engine much as it was not the best runner in the world . It is very sensitive to voltage variations . I was wondering if to much oil on the wheels will kill the signal coming through the wheels as isn't that the way the signal is suppose to be received. Sure would appreciate some help. thanks for your time.

Actually, the signal is received through the air, and typically the pantographs are used as an antenna. My guess is the antenna lead is disconnected and when you put the metal shell on, you totally shield the board and lose the signal.
Check the lead from the pantographs and make sure it's properly connected to the antenna connection. Also, with the shell off, make sure the pantographs do NOT have continuity to the shell.
