Just noticed that Golden Gate Depot has on order a new 5-car + additional 66-seat car Powhatan Arrow consist up and available for pre-order.
This is great news as I've been hoping for set to be offered. No longer do I have to stare longingly at the $3,000 overland brass set that's available.

Also new is a B&O "CINCINNATIAN"consist.

Do you mean 58 seat P3 coach? The new cars, of which included P1 crew coach (2), the P2 coach (2), P3 coach (10), diner (2) and the P4 round end observation (2) didn't arrive until 1949.

Jim,

The next passenger train for the builder is the El Capitan. The Powhatan Arrow and B&O Sinsinatian would most likely be done at the same time to meet the 1000 car minimum. I am guessing there will be reservations for 100 +/- B&O 5 car sets. Probably has to be at least 80 reservations to make it worthwhile.

I would think the N&W guys would be able to meet the rest of the minimum. My time estimate is based on what I know of the builder's schedule and the length of time it takes to complete a project after it becomes reality (meaning sufficient reservations).

I believe I have the plans for all the N&W cars, but I am sure you either have them or can get them if I don't.

Bob,

I am a member of the PRR T&HS and the B&O HS. I let both of those groups know of road specific projects coming from Sunset / 3rd Rail and Golden Gate.

I do know members of a number of other railroads' historical societies and confer with them on Sunset/GGD projects and ask them to pass new project information to their respective groups.

This week I will be at York and next week at the PRR T&HS convention near Harrisburg with the Sunset/GGD display.

I can't speak for what other importers' stance is on this topic.

Doesn't it make sense that the add on cars are P3 coaches since there were only 2 divided coaches (P2)?

Mainline Modeler magazine published plans for the N&W cars.

I have never found comparable drawings for the rebuilt heavweights that consisted the Cincinnatian.

A 5-car set of either consist is quoted at $1249.95. As much as I'd like to have both sets, $2500 plus CA tax at about the same time is just too rich for my blood.

Given the 400 (as I recall) Weaver P-7d's out there and the near-infinite number of N&W class J's I would think there is a good chance of sufficient number of sets being ordered. But-here's the tricky part-you all have to reserve them, ASAP. Please. I've done my bit for the B&O cars

Scott, if I have a reasonable assurance that these will be a 1st qtr 2015 item, I can place a preorder (with the extra car). I'm holding funds in place right now for the N&W Class M and that's going to be just about "it" for me this year.

These will surely be great looking sets.  But my dilemma is not knowing the status/possibility of the N&W 'finish sets'.

I already have four GGD N&W coaches and two sleepers that I wanted to add to the finish set I ordered.  If the N&W finish set is not made, will that be determined before the order deadline for the Powhatan set?

I'd like to get the N&W finish set, but if it gets cancelled I'd order the Powhatan set.  But if the timing is off I could end up with neither as I don't like to cancel anything I've ordered.

Just wondering out loud.
