Was looking around on the MTH site for some GM&O passenger cars and found several sets that have been offered. Have not seen any of them in person and the darn photos are so small as to render them almost useless.  Does anyone have any of these they could post some photos of please?

Am curious about the two 60' RK sets that were produced only 2 years apart - in 2003 & 2005. Any significant difference?

We're wanting to match our Atlas F3s which have very rich color whereas the RK GM&O RS3s we used to have were quite dark and muted in color. I've not seen the MTH GM&O F3s either.

FYI, the GM&O reds and maroons (the Alton colors, which the GM&O decided to

adopt after the Alton was purchased after WWII; the pre-Alton GM&O's first diesel scheme was a silver/crimson, which MTH has actually offered on a DL109 and a set of streamlined

cars) came in more than one shade.

The "dark and muted" color (a maroon) was more common on the North End of the road, and the reddish tones on the South End (N: StLouis-Chicago; S: StLouis-Mobile). Many GM&O F3's were a dark, almost brownish maroon with a red stripe; others were as the Atlas model is painted. Also, the EMD F's were used only on the North End.

Both color ranges are correct, depending on the prototype.

Also, this redder-marooner (?) contrast seemed to apply only to motive power, not

rolling stock.

MTH has offered a beautiful Premier GM&O Heavyweight set - I have it - even though the

red stripe is truly a little dark (I really like it better than the actual!). A classy set.

D500 you are quite right my friend - I was perusing some color photos on the different variations on the web after I posted this. Some pics are very similar to our Atlas units while others are quite dark in hue. A very interesting mix to be sure!

I am still having trouble with uploading photos from my computer or would have posted several examples of what you mentioned.

Ok if were taking a ride on the GM&O, we better stop off in Joliet.

When you complete your set stop off by my place in Joliet so we can run your cars past my Union Station.
