I liked the Lionel Gold Bullion car but had trouble finding one at train meets, shows etc.  Many years ago I made a Gold Bullion car from a cheap Marx box car.  The box car is only 7 3/4 inches long and has molded in doors.  I cut out the windows with a razor saw, made the bullion pile out of kitchen match sticks, painted them gold, spray painted the car silver, added clear plastic for windows and added lettering from a sheet of press on black numbers and letters.

A power pickup was made from brass shim stock with a piece of tin can stock soldered to reduce wear and added two 7 v mini Christmas tree lights and sockets for lights in the roof.

I like this car as it was fun to build and cheap, it is small and fits in with some of my Marx 999 and 666 engines and small Lionel engines like General 1862 (would be a target for train robbers and I run it with the 3370 W &A sheriff and outlaw car) and is lighted and shows up well.  The Lionel Gold Bullion car is not lighted.

Still looking for a Lionel Gold Bullion car and will add lights to it when one is found.
