Lionel is going to make this a BTO (Built to Order) item. Orginally it was going to be only 200 pcs. (That's 4 per state!) so know you can order it at the discounted price of 1124.99.

Thanks for the update Charlie. I guess Lionel figured that there would be more demand than the original number of 200. I think this is a strong indication that they will make additional gold coaches to what was shown in the Christmas catalog.
The Scale PE was already the Gold Standard of Christmas trains. Producing the PE in Gold is a fantastic idea. Well done Lionel! The new 10th Anniversary Gold Edition will be the Star on top of the Polar Express Christmas tree.

Lionel will be busy this year to get the Big Boys and PE items out by November along with the rest of the catalog. It will be an interesting year. I'm just glad that whistle steam made it into these.
