The latest GGD announcement has the reissue of some of their heavyweight cars.  What I like is the RPO and baggage cars will now be separate sale instead of in a set with the combine.  While I can always use RPO and baggage cars, I do not need more combines.

The GGD baggage car's prototype looks like the PRR's B70.  While the PRR had over 900 B60s, they only had 55 B70s. I have two now, but still want a couple more to mix with all my Weaver B60s.  I have sent an email to GGD to ask how many different numbers they will have.  Two B70s, 6004 and 6026, were express messenger cars.  Maybe if we are lucky GGD will paint one as one of these messenger cars.

Their RPO's prototype looks like the PRR BM70k, the ones without the small windows on either side of the baggage door.  I plan to buy a few of these to replace my fantasy Weaver RPOs.  Again, I asked if they will do multiple numbers of the car.  It would be neat if they modified their car body mold to include the small windows to add variability in the train, or maybe even a whole new RPO like a BM70m.  I know, beggars can't be choosers.

Ron,

They normally do multiple numbers for these cars  Last time they sold them in sets consisting of a combine, baggage, and baggage/mail.  There were two different sets.  Some dealers broke up the sets and sold the cars individually.  This time Scott is doing them separately which I think is a good thing,  Maybe we'll see four numbers and your express mail scheme.

I spoke with Scott at York several years ago about doing additional baggage and RPOs so prople could model express mail trains.  Bob Heil was there and agreed with me.

If everyone would vontact Scott and let him know their interests, Scott will likely produce them.

Yes these are nice cars. Better to Buy new than on the Secondary market like I did. Details are delicate and are not recommended for packaging other than OEM  boxes!

NOTE: NO combo car on this latest Heavyweight announcements!

BTW, Anyone interested in Scott making a PRR FOM Heavyweight set like he did with the sleepers?

Whoooo Hoo! I received an Email from Scott stating this weekend he will add the PRR Fleet Of Modernism paint scheme to the new Heavyweight offering!

I'm fine with no combos since I have three (two GGD HW and one K-Line LW).  They are like observations; you only need one per train.

There were still Pennsy lightweight passenger cars with the FOM scheme into the 50s.  Does anyone know if there were any HW coaches or sleepers left in 1949, the era I model, with the FOM scheme?  The only pictures of HW cars I've seen with the FOM scheme were those that ran with the similarly painted lightweight cars on Pennsy's flagship trains prior to WWII.  I've not seen any pictures of FOM HWs dated later than 1939.

When the Penny started to paint all their passenger cars (HW and LW) with the stripe scheme in the mid-40s, most HWs at that time had no stripes. Many HW passenger cars carried the no stripe scheme into the mid-50s, so my preference would be for GGD to provide some of their Pennsy HW cars in the no stripe scheme.  I think I'll shoot them an email on this.

I posted this on the 3RS thread about the Olympian set but I'll share it here.

I am very happy that Scott is running some more N&W scale passenger equipment. I told him at York There is a market for it and I hope we can see more offerings. Think about how many N&W Js have been made - they're gonna need trains to pull right??

I will be ordering at least 5 baggage cars for the head end of my Cavalier - a train that frequently had much of the mail and baggage on it (Not my photo, sharing here only for illustration purposes).

With the Baggage, RPO, Diner and Obs offerings I wonder if we'll be seeing a rerun of Coaches in the near future.

I really hope Scott will consider doing some more N&W in Aluminum, and as I have posted many times before, I hope he will do the Southern Tennessean Consist as well as that's right at home for Both Southern and N&W guys! (Again not my photo)

GGD got back to me on how many numbers per paint scheme.  Actually, Scott got back to me within hours of my email to them back on the 6th, but forgot to post.

Anyway, they plan to have four numbers per scheme.  I'm looking at three RPOs (I'll sell my Weaver RPOs) and two baggage to supplement the two I already have.  If I didn't already have 13 Weaver B60s I'd probably would have gotten more.

Wow those are plastic? Man they're gorgeous! I think I'm going to like my Amfleet coach. Finally convinced myself it was a good investment after failing to grab a Hi-Level lounge which are now impossible to find as separate cars.

I just might have to add a couple heavyweights to the wishlist after seeing that, even though they don't fit what I model.
